01Who we are

A Swedish powder metallurgy partner — not just a parts supplier.

Callo Sintermetall AB is a major supplier of sintered bearings, filters, structural parts and magnets. We offer both standard “off the shelf” products as well as customized components made to customer specifications. Our strength lies in providing high-quality products with very quick deliveries. Our production facilities are situated in the southern region of Sweden.

Callo is family owned and manufactures structural parts, soft magnetic materials, bushings and filters from metal powder. The focus is on short lead times and on staying at the technical front of PM — including a powder press and a pusher furnace the company designed and built itself.

03The chain

From a drawing to serial production.

Powder metallurgy is not a single operation — it is a chain, and decisions taken at the start decide what is possible at the end. Callo works across the whole of it, which is why the company describes itself as a supplier and solver of problems rather than a parts vendor.

  1. 01

    Idea or drawing

A print, a 3D model, or a part that already exists and needs to be made better or cheaper. The earlier this arrives, the more Callo can influence.

  2. 02

    Material & design

Density target, material characteristics, geometry and function are fixed together. Density drives strength, hardness, elasticity and impact resistance.

  3. 03

    Tooling

Die, punches and core rods are designed around the pressing direction. Complex contours cost nothing extra on the part — only on the tool.

  4. 04

    Compaction

Metal powder is pressed to net shape. Callo runs a powder press built in-house for multi-level structural parts.

  5. 05

    Sintering

The green part is sintered so the particles bond. Callo built its own pusher furnace into the production line.

  6. 06

    Finishing

Repressing, cutting-machining, roll polishing, oil impregnation — whatever the tolerance class and function require.

  7. 07

    Quality control

Inspection against the drawing inside an ISO 9001 quality system, certified since 2004.

  8. 08

    Serial production

Repeat production with short lead times — Callo’s stated focus alongside staying at the technical front of PM.

04The method

Why powder metallurgy?

Sintering sits between die-cast zinc and forged steel in material terms — and beats both on material usage and on the cost of complexity. Where it wins, it wins clearly. Where it does not, Callo will say so.

01

Efficient material usage

Powder is pressed to shape rather than cut away. Callo lists “poor use of material” as the trade-off of cutting machining — sintering is the answer to it.

02

Repeatable production

The tool defines the part. Once the die is right, part number ten thousand is the same as part number ten.

03

Complex geometries

Transverse grooves and channels, odd contours and integrated features come out of the tool — contour costs tooling, not part price.

04

Reduced machining

Net shape out of the furnace. Finishing is applied where the tolerance class genuinely needs it, not everywhere.

05

Integrated functions

Self-lubrication, filtration, magnetic flux paths and mechanical structure can live in one pressed component.

06

Volume economics

Low or modest tooling cost to start, and a fast per-part process — the cost curve improves as the volume grows.

05Standard programme

292 bearings you can specify today.

Callo’s standard bearing programme runs from a ⌀2 mm bore to a ⌀100 mm bore, in plain and flanged forms, plus billets. Search it by article number or filter it by the dimensions you actually have to hit.

06Custom components

Have a component in mind?

Send Callo your drawing or your requirements and start a technical discussion. The earlier the conversation starts, the more there is to gain — geometry, material, tooling and production economics are still open.

  1. 01

    Send what you have

Share the available part information directly with Callo and confirm the preferred drawing or model format.

  2. 02

    Talk to someone technical

Callo publishes direct phone and email contacts for questions and orders.

  3. 03

06Engineering support

Designed for sintering.

The earlier Callo becomes involved in the design process, the easier it is to optimise geometry, material properties, tooling and production economics. A part drawn for machining and then handed to a sinter shop is a part that costs more than it needs to.

Geometry
Levels cost extra and limit density. Contour does not cost extra on the part — only on the tool.
Density
Strength, hardness, elasticity, impact resistance and permeability all follow density. High density limits complexity.
Material properties
From just above die-cast zinc to almost as good as forged, depending on what the part has to survive.
Tolerances
IT 9 after sintering, IT 13 in the direction of pressing — improvable by repressing, machining and roll polishing.
Tooling
Die, punches and core rods follow the pressing direction. Avoid sections thinner than 1.5 mm.
Production volume
Low start-up cost and a fast per-part process — the economics improve as the series grows.

07Quality

Quality built into the process.

Certification is not paperwork bolted on at the end — it is how the press, the furnace and the inspection bench are run. Callo has held ISO 9001 since 2004 and ISO 14001 since 2011.

08Manufacturing

Made in Sweden.
Built for industry.

Callo’s production sits in Nässjö, in the southern region of Sweden. Being small and Swedish is the point: flexible production, a stated focus on short lead times and technical development in powder metallurgy.

Two of the machines on the line — a powder press for multi-level structural parts and a pusher furnace — were designed and built by Callo itself.
